Prototype & Low-Volume Machining
One part or a few hundred. Real machined prototypes in production materials, replacement parts and short runs — without the minimums of a large production shop.

Real parts, in real materials
Large production shops are built for thousands of the same part. When you need one prototype to test, five parts for a customer demo, or a replacement for a part that no longer exists, you need a shop that’s set up for small quantities and quick changeovers.
That’s the work LD Engineered is built around. Because we handle the CAD/CAM programming in-house, we can take a job from a sketch, model or sample all the way to finished parts.
What we make
Prototype and short-run work
Functional prototypes
Parts in the production material for fit, form and function testing.
Design iterations
Revise and re-machine quickly as your design evolves.
Replacement parts
Broken, worn or obsolete parts reverse engineered and remade.
Low-volume production
Small batches with consistent setups and documented programs for repeat orders.
Bridge production
Parts to keep you shipping while larger-volume tooling or suppliers come online.
Custom one-offs
Fixtures, tooling, adapters and custom parts for your own equipment.
From one to production
Why start with LD Engineered
- No minimum quantity — one part is a real order.
- Milling and turning in one shop — 4-axis CNC milling and live-tool turning.
- DFM feedback — learn what drives cost before you commit to volume.
- Programs saved for reorders — repeat parts are set up faster.
- Local pickup in Parrish, or shipping to your door.
What to send for a quote
A STEP file and/or drawing, material, quantity, finish requirements and your target date. A photo or the physical part works too for replacement parts.
Request a prototype quoteFrequently asked questions
What is the minimum order quantity?
There isn't one. We machine single prototypes and replacement parts as well as low-volume batches.
Why machine a prototype instead of 3D printing it?
A machined prototype is made from the real material — aluminum, steel, stainless, brass or engineering plastic — so it has the strength, tolerances and surface finish of the final part. That makes it suitable for functional testing, fit checks and customer demos.
How fast can you turn around a prototype?
Lead time depends on part complexity, material availability and the current schedule. Tell us when you need the part when you request a quote and we'll be upfront about whether we can hit it.
Can you help improve my design before machining?
Yes. Every job gets a manufacturability review, and we'll suggest changes that make the part easier and cheaper to produce — especially helpful before moving from prototype to production.
